“Millennials & the I-Generational have a vision for the church and we have an opportunity to meaningfully engage their leadership. ”
Representations matters. While many churches in the mainline protestant tradition, struggle to listen for God’s still small voice in the youth of today. Public college campus ministries, like ECM at K-State, model welcoming, diverse, ecumenical community akin to the early Christian movement. However, due to shifting priorities, the vibrant voices of younger generations are overlooked, or outright dismissed. It is the intention of this project to address these discrepancies through a shared love: music. By interviewing marginalized student groups across public school campuses, salient current social themes will surface, inspiring lyrics set to hymn tunes simultaneously beloved by older generations. The resulting music will be shared with campus ministries partners, diverse student groups, & multi-denominational resource sharing agencies through readily available social media music platforms, like SoundCloud.
