In late November, the Louisville Institute was privilege to receive an additional grant of $2.5 million from Lilly Endowment, Inc. to further extend our work.  For us, this is so much more than a dollar amount.  It represents the ability to further impact the Christian Church in North America by allowing us to make more grants, better serve our Fellows and really pour into the collaboration efforts of the talented pastoral leaders, academics and those focused on theology as a vocation.

In the press release issued by Louisville Seminary, Executive Director Edwin Aponte said it so well. “We are grateful to Lilly Endowment for this added endorsement of the work of the Louisville Institute. These funds will enable the Institute to expand its support of ecclesially-engaged scholars researching all different aspects of North American Christianity and pastoral leaders exploring the future of contextual ministry, as well as contributing to the re-visioning of theological education in a changing society.”

We are grateful.  Edwin, Don, Pamala and myself get to come to work and know that we are a part of something so much bigger.  For us, that is a privilege that we take very seriously.  From the entire LI staff, thank you Lilly Endowment for the continued nod of support to the work of the Institute.  We pray that our work will continue to have impact far beyond our realms of thought and imagination.

Simply enough, with the additional grant, we get to do more.  We get to be a part of a greater impact.
