Norman B. Bendroth received a 2012 Pastoral Study Project grant for his project Rethinking Transitional Ministry. His book Transitional Ministry Today: Successful Strategies for Churches and Pastors is a product of that research.

Elizabeth Turman-Bryant received a 2013 Pastoral Study Project Grant for Radical Hospitality for the Rest of Us: Congregational Models for Welcoming the Stranger.

Joyce Hollyday received a 2013 Pastoral Study Project grant for Courage, Compassion, and Christian Community: The Legacy of the Beguines. She recently completed the manuscript for her historical novel based on her research, tentatively titled Pillar of Fire.

Terry Muck is Executive Director of the Louisville Institute and will present on Death and Dying at the upcoming Louisville Fellows June Consultation.

Julie Leininger Pycior is Professor of History at Manhattan College. She received a Summer Stipend for “Radical Pilgrims: A Comparative Biography of Dorothy Day and Thomas Merton.” She shares her reflections on Thomas Merton, on the occasion of his centenary, as seen from the perspective of her research supported by the Louisville Institute.

Dr. Nancy Tatom Ammerman is Professor of Sociology of Religion at Boston University’s School of Theology and Chair of the Department of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences. Her book Sacred Stories, Spiritual Tribes: Finding Religion in Everyday Life (Oxford University Press, 2013) was funded by the Templeton Foundation and supported by a Louisville Institute Sabbatical Grant for Researchers.

Denise Thorpe and team received a 2014 Collaborative Inquiry Team award for their project Race, Church and Theological Practices. The team includes: Denise E. Thorpe (Saint Ambrose Episcopal Church, Raleigh, North Carolina), J. Kameron Carter (Duke University, Durham, North Carolina), Donyelle Charlotte McCray (Virginia Theological Seminary, Alexandria, Virginia), Mark Ramsey (Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, Asheville, North Carolina), and Jemonde Taylor (Saint Ambrose Episcopal Church, Raleigh, North Carolina).

John Morehead and his team received a 2014 Collaborative Inquiry Team award for their project Evangelicals Engaging a Multifaith World. The team includes: John W. Riley (Navigate, Billings, Montana), Bob Roberts (NorthWood Church, Keller, Texas) and Philip K. Wyman (North Shore Church, Boston, Massachusetts).

Bruce Rittenhouse received a 2006 Dissertation Fellowship award for his project Shopping for Meaningful Lives: A Christian Existential Reinterpretation of the Moral Motivation of Consumerism Through the Theology of Paul Tillich. Bruce shares with us about his book Shopping for Meaningful Lives: The Religious Motive of Consumerism (Cascade Books, 2013).

Janel Kragt Bakker received a 2008 Dissertation Fellowship award for her project Encountering the Church in the Global South: Sister Congregation Relationships and Their Impact on Parishioners in Select Washington, D.C.
