About this sabbatical grant for pastoral leaders (Discontinued)

I have served The Korean Church of Champaign-Urbana for 17 years since September, 1994. Our church is located near the University of Illinois and has served members of the Korean community including Korean immigrants and their children, early study abroad students, and students pursuing post secondary education. The largest segment of the congregation is composed of students who come from all areas of Korea, believers and nonbelievers, and members' turnover is extremely high each year. They all need assistance in settlement. An important aspect of our ministry is settlement assistance, and my wife has taken the lead role in this ministry all these years. The past seventeen years have been exhilarating, stretching, and fulfilling. There has been continued growth in the congregation and in their spirituality. But I have never gained a chance of sabbatical renewal. For the past 17 years of ministry, I have allotted little time for spiritual retreat and rest. Apart from family vacation, my wife and I have never stepped back from ministry for more than two or three days. It is time for a significant personal Sabbath renewal. I believe that the SGPL program can provide time for such a renewal.
