About this sabbatical grant for pastoral leaders (Discontinued)

After 24 years of ministry and nine years at Olivet Lutheran Church, my current congregation, I am scheduled to take a sabbatical beginning April 1, 2012 and ending June 30, 2012. This sabbatical will allow me time to rest from the hectic schedule of shepherding and give me an opportunity to rest and refresh myself, spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically. The last nine years of ministry at Olivet has been filled with continuous building and restructuring as the ministry has evolved from a suburban to an urban community. Olivet's members are now in position to continue journey towards becoming a 'disciple-making' congregation. The sabbatical will allow me time to step back and refocus on the big picture, while being invigorated and inspired through rest, relaxation, refreshment, and renewal.

Some of the time will also be used to learn new and creative ways to approach ministry to reach the next generation. I realize what worked 24 years ago, does not work with most young people today. I look forward to exposing my congregation to innovative ways to further the Gospel of Christ.
