My sabbatical project would consist of four components. First, I would like to spend some quality time “reconnecting” with my mother, who has just been diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Connecting more with her may release me of some guilt I feel concerning my neglect of her as I am pulled by the demands of ministry. Second, I would like to spend time reconstructing some things around my house in need of repair, such as patching and painting the front porch, staining the back porch, cleaning out the garage, and doing some landscaping. Third, I would like to spend some time recreating. I have always desired to be able to play the piano. I would like to use my sabbatical to begin piano lessons. Fourth, I would like to spend some time renewing my prayer life, my faith, and my body through rest, meditation, reading, and exercise.
