About this sabbatical grant for pastoral leaders discontinued

Since entering the pastorate, nearly thirty years ago, my wife has actively participated in my ministry, standing closely beside me. Now retired as a secondary school principal, neither she, nor I, has had the opportunity to take time off for ourselves. This Sabbatical grant will give my wife and me an opportunity to take a much needed Sabbatical leave from our tireless labor in ministry. The place of choice to spend this sabbatical is South Africa. It is my intent to share this Sabbatical pilgrimage, capturing the African Christian spiritual heritage that has informed the progenitors of my particular church tradition, through documenting our time away in the form of creating a spiritual and healing journal made from photographs taken of this trip. Photography has long been one of my many passions. I have found that taking photos serves as a kind of devotional which allows me to capture the essence of God’s glory. Having the time and space to create such a journal will not only benefit me, but it will also bless my parishioners by allowing them to reflect on the images of a place undoubtedly many would never have an opportunity to see.
