About this sabbatical grant for pastoral leaders (Discontinued)

The labyrinth is a symbol of pilgrimage. I plan to initiate my sabbatical with a retreat and labyrinth facilitator training at Chartres, France. Every Sunday evening we gather on our labyrinth to celebrate Eucharist. The altar is at the center of the labyrinth, and it’s the sacrament of the soul that I want to re-connect with while away from the demands of working in an iconic, urban cathedral. At the summer solstice I will travel to Finland with my husband and our daughters to introduce them to their Finnish heritage. An opportunity for an extended immersion will satisfy my heart’s desire to be in the place that is the true home of my heart. I will enjoy the rest of the summer relishing in an extended period of Sabbath with my family working in our garden and tending our flock of backyard chickens. As I prepare to re-enter cathedral life I look forward to a three-day integrative retreat. Through retreat, travel and keeping home I look forward to re-establishing the soulful rhythms of prayer, study and family time.
