Encouraged by a guided pilgrimage to the Holy Land, I want to continue to explore the practice of personal pilgrimage and spiritual autobiography as ways to be open and available to the guidance and wisdom of God, to be renewed through the exploration of the landscapes and memories of my past, to experience the connectedness of prayer and story, and to make time to listen for and be restored to future ministry and living.
The sabbatical I propose would allow me to physically and spiritually visit the development of my inner and outer being as I make pilgrimage to the churches and landscapes that have formed me in the faith. Along the journey I will engage the churches that have been home to me through shared worship, appreciative inquiry, and mutual storytelling. I will venture the earth that surrounds each spiritual home by wandering and exploration; seek companion spiritual direction at each location, and map my journey narrative of memory and inspiration in spiritual autobiography.
