About this sabbatical grant for pastoral leaders (Discontinued)

I love to play games with people. Board games, that is, and especially the newer, more in-depth games that are coming out of Europe. Limitless creativity goes into the design of these games. What would happen if I were to work with a game designer to design a new game? How could the processes of creativity utilized in this arena be translated into creative ways for the church to navigate the turbulent waters of constant, yet unpredictable change?
I have also discovered that playing and contemplating the design of board games has been a way for me to disconnect with pastoral ministry while remaining connected to people, and a way to disengage intellectually while my mind remains engaged.
I also love creating music, which has many of the same effects. How can I use this love to rejuvenate and sustain my spirit?
Driving from Michigan to a cabin in Colorado will allow me to disconnect from my regular routines, reconnect with my family, and begin preparation for the sabbatical. Then I will continue on to an area where I previously lived in California, where I will work with a board game designer and musician to explore the creative process.
