Ancient Celtic Christians sent pilgrims out with instructions to follow the wild goose. It was a positive thing. Wild Goose was synonymous with Holy Spirit.
The name of our drama troupe is Goose Chase, Inc. The wildest, most powerful, humorous, playful, and meaningful God moments of our ministry have happened using drama in church. In moments like these, there is mystery. There is transformation. There is a deepening of faith. Good theater puts the Word into flesh.
We long to have a Sabbath time, a goose chase time, to immerse ourselves in theater performance and classes, and a time of prayer to reflect on these experiences as pastor/artists. We propose a journey to travel along the foundations and creative edges of theater. The journey includes:
• A summer seminar at the Accademia dell' Arte (Italy) for a theater
foundation in mask making, dance, voice, mime, and Commedia.
• Attending the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, opening us to the cutting edge
of the creative arts.
• A time of reflection and prayer with a retreat to the Iona Community in
Scotland.
• Several weeks in Ashland, Oregon for rest, reading, reflection, development
of new resources for ministry.
