Tending the roots - Pruning the branches - Enhancing the growth

I will grow personally and pastorally through intentional examination of the historical and theological roots of Christianity, our Anabaptist tradition and my own heritage; embrace the pain and inevitability of change in life to more effectively lead the congregation in a vitalized ministry for our changing world.

My background of a theology of service will be lived out by serving in the Gulf region, rebuilding homes and interviewing families who have suffered loss. This will sensitize my future ministry as I care for people who have loss issues. Stories gathered will be shared in denominational papers.

I will travel to Israel for a Biblical Study Program for Pastors and Teachers. Time will also be spent intentionally seeking to understand the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. I will return home by way of Switzerland, the land so intricately tied to this congregation. While there I will visit sister congregations and interview relatives.

During the remaining time I will engage in three initiatives.
- I will read to enhance ministry in the emerging cultural reality of rural Ohio.
- I will engage in two three?day prayer retreats.
- I will spend focused time with my wife, children and parents for refreshment and self-care.
