I will be exploring the effects of Silence and the effect it has had and continues to have on Black women in the Church and more importantly on Black women who are 'Secondary Victims' of The Culture of Black on Black Violence Against African-American Males in New Haven, CT., whose sons are the 'Primary Victims' who have died violently in the Culture of Black on Black Violence Against African-American Males. I will look closely at the Church's inability to embrace this culture and give them 'sacred space' to be heard and healed, and a place to worship God.
I will reintegrate the 'Secondary Victims' back into worship gradationally through attending worship services with 12 different communities of faith; prayer and reflection, daily reading of the Bible, and give them 'sacred space' to be heard, rewriting of their narratives, and utilization of different 'empowering' techniques such as inner-spiritual reflection and reacquainting themselves with God through his Son Jesus Christ.
We will also attend a three (3) day retreat where we will Rap it Up' with different activities, a debriefing session and an exchanging of ideas, suggestions, criticisms, questions, and/or comments and decide where we will go as a group from here.
