About this sabbatical grant for pastoral leaders (Discontinued)

I have come to a point where passion and joy are missing from my ministry. It is not fair to my church to have their pastor simply going through the motions of ministry, and it is not a healthy situation for my family. I hope to rekindle my passion for ministry by taking a twelve week sabbatical with my family in the San Francisco Bay Area. There are four elements that form the structure of my sabbatical. First is the opportunity for directed study by registering for a class in the Graduate Theological Union's summer program and the Alban Institute's Clergy Development Institute to be held in Menlo Park, CA. I would also spend time reading a bibliography of books related to rekindling my passion for ministry. The second element involves working with a spiritual director from San Francisco Theological Seminary. The third is disciplining myself to follow a daily routine of physical exercise. The final element would be the opportunity to enjoy the Bay Area with my family as a way to strengthen my family's emotional health. By keeping these elements of study, reflection, exercise, and family in balance, I hope to rekindle my passion for ministry.
