About this pastoral study project

My project will be part of my four month sabbatical that is offered by my church. The project will be split into four core parts: September 2026 - Rest, Rhythm, and Reading, October 2026 - Travel, Research, Writing, November 2026 - Rest, Writing, Editing Recordings, and January 2027 - Integration and Application.
Along with attuning the needs of my own personal rhythm, and considering how churches might also lean into a rhythm that helps them thrive, I will ask the following questions. Is it time for churches to compassionately but consistently consider what really matters and throw their energy into those things? Do churches need to spend time wrestling with the grief of their “before time” so they can move forward? How can churches address accessibility in a way that is constantly checking in with community members who need accessible services? During my anticipated time of travel, I hope to engage with congregations who have asked these questions, have gone through significant change in order to thrive, or who hold healing as a core value.
