About this pastoral study project

Nature feeds our souls. Awe in nature is as biblical as forgiveness and it’s often where we feel closest to God. Yet this wealth of spiritual fuel goes largely underutilized by the church.
My goal is to provide a biblically grounded, nature-based spiritual formation model with practices, rhythms, tools, and a podcast, for use by individuals, churches, and communities. I call this Living WildlyKnown.
Fuelled by my zoology, theology, church leadership, and writing background, my heart is for the church and those struggling in their faith, unsure if church fits anymore, yet open to God in creation. As an established author with a growing WildlyKnown community, this project naturally complements my current and future ministry.

The project has four stages:
1) RESEARCH: interview key academics, authors, church leaders, and lay people.
2) LEARNING: complete Forest Therapy Guide training to inform my work
3) CREATION: build a foundational WildlyKnown spiritual formation model and practices in collaboration with key advisors and the WildlyKnown Community
4) SHARING: create and launch the WildlyKnown podcast to share these practices with the church, individuals, and communities.

With a church hungry for the presence of God, WildlyKnown offers a fresh model of spiritual formation that’s as old as creation. It might also provide a bridge to faith for a seeking world and reimagine the environmental movement in the eyes of the church.
