Vital middle judicatories are essential to vital, transformational congregations. This study will examine the middle judicatory systems which themselves are experiencing their own transformation of purpose in order to better serve the transformation of particular congregations they oversee. What does leadership look like in those contexts? What qualities are evident across these judicatories? What new metaphors describe what middle judicatories are becoming as they better support, strengthen and lend their energy and wisdom to the transformation of congregations for ministry in the post-modern North American context? What are the implications/ indications for leaders and middle judicatories in the future? These questions will be explored through interviews with middle judicatory leaders where transformation is evident and will culminate in observations which will be illustrated by select Case Studies.
